Tonight, King Street resident, Enfield Reyes is spending his first night of an 18 month sentence after he was convicted in Magistrate's Court of pulling a gun on his wife.
The incident occurred on April 13, 2014. Bernadette Reyes testified that on that day, he pulled his licensed 9mm pistol on her. She says that she was walking out the front gate when she heard the gun go off. When she looked back, she saw that her husband had the weapon pointed at her.
In his defence, Reyes testified and denied that he ever did any such thing.
He said that he went to the front of the house and saw a person dart through the front gate, and that's why he fired a bullet into the drain.
After listening to all the evidence, Chief Magistrate Smith ruled that the prosecution had proven their case against Reyes. She commented that his version of events was a fairy tale. For the offence, she sentenced him to spend a year and a half in jail.
