Bregal Family Disputes Police Account
posted (December 2, 2014)
Last night we reported about Lionel Bregal -the man Ladyville police are accusing of participating in the jewelry heist in which 390 thousand dollars' worth of jewelry was stolen from the Roe's residence in Ladyville. Bregal is out on bail after being arraigned yesterday.

Police reported that a Rolex watch case was found at Bregal's residence in Belize City - which is the source of the charge.

But today in an interview with Bregal's mother, she said that police did not find a Rolex watch case at her son's residence. In fact, she showed us his charge sheet which stated that Bregal was charged with handling stolen good for a bag which values only 20 Belize dollars.

Estella Bardalez - Mother of Lionel Bregal
"In the news about what they say about my son last night that they found him with a Rolex watch and the family gathered over one thousand dollars to pay for court that he owed - nothing goes like that. My son did not get charge for that. My son got charge for a bag for $20 and the charge was for $500 and he got one person to bail him."

"Nobody is claiming the bag?"

Estella Bardalez - Mother of Lionel Bregal
"Nobody is claiming any bag or anything. As far as we are concern nobody hasn't come up and say yes that bag belongs to we or anything like that and the value of the bag is only $20. So I just want to clarify what the media had up last night on the news about my son having a Rolex watch and we come up with over one thousand dollars because people is watching my son funny now because of these things that come up and I just want to clarify everything. So far right now my son is worrying because he has a chain that belongs to my daughter that they bought for her for her birthday and apparently the police took it off my son neck and he didn't have him signed for it which is a normal procedure. The police always take away things from him and never made him sign for anything. We have the receipt here for the chain and then he took other small stuff that doesn't value anything and he took pictures of my daughter that she gave to me and some small things like that. We just want all that back."

The chain is valued at seventeen hundred dollars and Bregal family has a receipt for it. Bregal is alleging that the chain was removed from around his neck by a police investigator.
