The Long Delayed Murder Arraignment Of Echeverria
posted (December 4, 2014)
Last night, we told you how the Director of Public Prosecutions signed off on a murder charge for 19 year-old Wilser Echeverria. Tonight, he's at the Belize Central Prison after being taken back to court today before the Belmopan Magistrate's Court.

He was arraigned today on the charge of murder, and due to the nature of the offence, no plea was taken. He was remanded by Magistrate Aretha Ford until January 27, 2015, when he will be brought back for an adjournment.

He is now facing the capital offence for the death of the Panamanian Diplomat, Jose Rodrigo De la Rosa Stanford, and a theft charge for his missing phone and vehicle, which police recovered. When the finally case goes to the Supreme Court, the prosecutor from the DPP's Office will have to prove that Echeverria intentionally and unlawfully killed the Panamanian Diplomat because he claims he did it in self-defence while trying to ward off a sexual assault.
