First Caribbean Gives
posted (December 9, 2014)
4 city schools received stoves and cooking supplies for their feeding programs today. A short ceremony was held at CIBC First Caribbean Bank on Albert Street this afternoon to hand over the donations. According to the recipients it takes a lot of resources to ensure that all students are properly fed but these donations will make a considerable difference in the lives of the children.

Shaeleen Castillo, Manager - Retail Banking and Operations
"CIBC First Caribbean, we have a commitment to give back to the communities in which we operate and throughout the year we participate in various initiatives that we identify as well as which our staff identify and so one of the things that we know is very important is the development of our children and what we have done is to reach out to certain schools and to find out what happens with their feeding program and they presented to us what is basically their wish list and so based on the schools that responded to us, the management of their feeding programs and the ones that we consider to be most needy - we narrowed down to 4 schools and we were able to meet what had presented to us on their wish list."

Myrna Smith, Principal - Queen Square Anglican School
"The feeding program we have now is being sponsor by the government, by the Ministry. But we also prepare snacks and we have a stove that is not fully functional. So, this definitely will help us in preparing our other variety of healthy snacks."

Representative, Ebenezer School
"I believe that the donation is a blessing. It will help the children. Ebenezer is one of the schools under our Methodist management that has a feeding program and you know in these days it's tough to get resources. Some days I know the school is struggling just to keep the feeding program alive. So, this donation will definitely help."

The schools are Queen Square Anglican School, Ephesus Seventh Day Adventist School, Ebenezer Primary School and Unity Presbyterian School. The donations are valued at over 4000 Belize dollars.
