Grenade Recovered In City
posted (December 11, 2014)
Another grenade has been taken off the Belize City streets. This one was found last night on Faber's road extension in an overgrown lot. The area was at the very far end of Faber's Road near the Western Highway not in any known gang turf; police believe it is a stash spot for a criminal or criminal group.

The grenade was wrapped in a plastic bag and stuffed inside a knapsack. The flyoff lever was held down with electrical tape. It is an American made type m26 grenade - identical to one found on September the eighth on Banak Street - in gang controlled territory. This one - like that - is rusty - but still very dangerous.

The area was cordoned off and the BDF's Commander, explosives expert General David Jones was called in. He secured it and took it away to the BDF camp for disposal.

The grenade was found by the Eastern divison Strike Team acting on intelligence. On Wednesday night that same team was conducting operations in the Neal Pen Road area when they found a black plastic bag containing a rusty .380 Walthar PPK pistol with a magazine containing four live rounds.

And on Tuesday night, they nabbed a 38 revolver on Sibun Street. The strike team was on patrol when they saw Jose Fuentes throw away a shiny object. Police took him back to the area where they found a 38 revolver with five live rounds. Fuentes was arrested and charged for kept Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunition.
