Last night we told you about Emerson Daly Jr., a 24 year-old resident of Roaring Creek missing, and feared dead. Well at around 8 this morning,

His family made the discovery they had been dreading: they found his body floating in the Belize River, about a mile and a half east of his home village.

The well-known handy man had been shot to the head, and his killer or killers, then dumped him in the river.

Our news team was out there a few hours after he was found, and Daniel Ortiz reports:

Family members and friends gathered this morning in the Banana Bank area waiting for the medical examiner to arrive to do an on-site post-mortem.

They were just up the hill from where they found the body of 24 year-old Emerson Daly Jr. after searching 2 hours on the river, which runs behind Roaring Creek Village.

Their worst fears were confirmed: and as they anticipated, their loved one was killed, stabbed multiple times, and dumped into the river.

The victim's cousin was among the team which first discovered his body.

"We found him 8:35 this morning, they were 5 of us in dory and we found him down the river. I only saw one stab he has in his face and he was face down in the river."

Emerson Daly Jr left his family's house in Roaring Creek on Sunday night at around 8 in a blue Nissan Pathfinder which he borrowed from his uncle.

Since then, no one saw or heard anything from him, which made them very concerned. They reported him missing to police, and yesterday at around 10 a.m., police found the vehicle Mount Pleasant Road. There was blood on the back seat and a bloody shirt on the trails. Those clues gave the civilian and police search teams a lead on where to look.

Candy Newfield, his friend and colleague, was puzzled at why anyone would want to harm him.

"Emerson Daly was loved no by hundreds but by thousand of people. He has impacted their lives, he's very creative, very talented and who so ever has done this to him, they need; And as long as I'm breathing, I swear to god that I'm going to make sure - These people have no idea what love they have killed. The world has little as it is and this boy at 24 years old has contributed so much love to this world. If they knew who Emerson was, nobody in their right mind would have killed him. For the record I want to state this, don't let anybody, no media, no nothing bring in any kind of thing to do with anything about sex when it comes to Emerson; He was so much bigger than that."

A late evening on site post mortem confirmed that he had been shot to the face.

Daly was the owner of his own business called Daly's Dream Creations, and he helped his widowed mother to support his 3 siblings.
