Buckley, 100K Later, Busted and Disgusted With GOB
posted (January 21, 2015)

Tonight Steven Buckley is broke – and he wants the government to pay up the remainder of his compensation money. Yesterday Buckley showed up in Court for his case against the government of Belize after he was wrongfully shot in the head in 2010 by a police officer on duty. The case has been adjourned until next month – and Buckley say he is getting frustrated because he is broke and cannot work to provide for his family.

You will recall that police shot Buckley in the head for no reason in 2010 – and in August of 2013, Government paid him a preliminary figure of a hundred thousand dollars – with the rest of his money to be settled in court.

But in the 17 months since then, he explained to 7news that he has been paying the bills and taking care of his family and is now down to nothing.

Steven Buckley

"Right now, when I went yesterday they said the case is adjourned until a further date. All I know is the case went to a further date. Due to the police man say he has his lawyer. The judge explain to the prosecutor that Mr. Samson no the grab his case none at all. The case is against the government, the government suppose to help me right now, that's the problem right now. Poor family receive nothing from them, I'm getting no kind of help, none at all from nobody. The give me 100,000.

"And since then?"

Steven Buckley

"Since then I no get nothing else from them. All I got to tell you is it's not working out. If my girl didn't take of my land lord I don't know how we would eat, serious. I really sad because what I use to do, I can't do it again and something I cry over that in my house."

A bullet remains lodged in one of Buckley's lungs- which he claims causes discomfort and he is waiting on some money to get it removed.
