Fill It Up, King-Man!
posted (January 28, 2015)

For years, a number of residents in low lying Lake Independence, especially in the Gungulung area, have been plagued by swamps and floods which inundate their yards, forcing them to trudge through unsanitary conditions to get to and from their houses.

That area, like other Southside constituencies such as Port Loyola, Pickstock and Collet, was developed in haphazard fashion andlots ar ento unformly filled. And so, just in time for city council elections, government has chartered a landfill program to assist those needy residents.

It is financed by the OPEC Fund for International Development, and Mark King, the Minister of State within Martinez's ministry, made sure that his constituents had a head start today.

7News was out at King's constituency office in Lake I today when the first loads arrived. He told us that Lake Independence has responded favorable to the assistance:

King is planning to distribute 2,000 loads.
