Worrying Allegations Of Child Abuse At OW Tech
posted (February 19, 2015)
There is a very disturbing report coming out of the Orange Walk Technical High School involving gross sexual improprieties by male teachers. The reports say that teachers reportedly impregnated students in first and second form. Now, it is the sort of lurid story that has the air of baseless rumour, except in this case, the Chairman of the school board acknowledges that there is something to it - and it's something very disturbing.

Kevin Bernard, Mayor - Orange Walk Town
"The allegation did reach the principal and he contacted me immediately and we had an emergency meeting. In fact, we met yesterday, the board met yesterday on this matter. I've heard this morning that the other media houses are talking about it, but what I want to say and make absolutely clear, is that the board met last night and there are certain processes that needs to follow. As you know due process needs to take its place and so, 1), we have made certain steps to make sure this issue is being thoroughly investigated. Right now we are in the investigation stage and there is not much I can comment to that because it can jeopardize whatever either two parties. But, I want to make it absolutely clear here, as chairman of the board and the at the board itself, we are very serious when it comes to issue as these and we are going to be dealing with the matter as it belongs to be dealt with and so, certain recommendations have been made, the principal has written, along with myself, we both signed that letter to the teacher who is being alleged to have impregnated the student and we are very serious. It's disgracefully when this like this happen, actually I was upset when I heard the matter, but at the end of the day we need to deal with it as a board."

Kevin Bernard is also the mayor of Orange Walk Town. We note that there are also whispers of other significant acts of impropriety involving teachers at the school.
