Blue Bell Recall – What About Belize?
posted (March 18, 2015)

Blue Bell ice cream products – which are sold in Belize - may be linked to the death of 3 Americans. According to The Guardian online, 5 patients at a hospital in Kansas contracted a bacterial infection called listeriosis after eating Blue Bell ice cream products – 3 of the patients died. As a result of this, several Blue Bell Products have been recalled. Those include the Chocolate Chip Country Cookie Sandwich, Great Divide Bar, Cotton Candy Bar, Scoops, Vanilla Stick Slices, Almond Bars and Sour Pop Green Apple Bar. Now how does this recall affect us? Arctic Cold imports these products to Belize from the US and you can go to almost any grocery store in Belize and find Blue Bell products. We contacted Arctic Cold but the managers were not available. We also contacted the Bureau of Standards and they said they weren't aware of the recall but will follow up on it. According to the U.S Food and Drug Administration website "Consumers should not eat any of the products listed above. If these ice cream products are in your freezer, they should be thrown away, even if some of them have been eaten without anyone becoming ill".
