Health CEO Looking Into KHMH Operating Theatre Malfunction
posted (March 19, 2015)
As we told you on Friday, the sterilizer in the operating theater at the KHMH hasn't been working, which has delayed all elective surgeries. We asked the CEO in the Ministry of Health about this today and he says there is a program set in place to resolve the shortage and malfunction of equipment in the operating theater.

Dr. Peter Allen, CEO, Ministry of Health
"But I was aware that they were having some challenges with the sterilizers at K.H.M.H. Fortunately; the Ministry of Health has been working on a program of "redundancy" in some essential equipment, with the idea being that when equipment is essential then you can't just have one piece of that equipment, because if it goes down then what do you do. So you building redundancy by buying additional equipment should in case something happens. So the Ministry of Health, supported by the Ministry of Finance, just bought six new sterilizers for distribution around the country. So, I am aware that our own national engineering and maintenance center which is on the compound of the K.H.M.H. had taken two of those new sterilizers and set them up on the compound of K.H.M.H to support them."

The CEO attended a meeting this morning regarding this issue and says he will update us on how that went.
