Two Teenagers Killed In Orange Walk
posted (March 23, 2015)
Two teenagers were murdered on Saturday night in Orange Walk Town. 16-year-old Daniel Valdez Vasquez and 17-year-old Michael Usher were killed in a drive-by at the south end of the town. It was a ruthless indiscriminate shooting that put a whole group of young men in danger. We went north today to find out what could have motivated such indiscriminate violence against teenagers:

Jules Vasquez reporting
This is the building on Boundary Road where a group of young men were hanging out on Saturday night at 10:00 pm.

They were sitting here in front of the warehouse when a blue Toyota Tacoma pulled up, a male jumped out and sprayed gunfire from a nine millimeter pistol.

A resident of the upper flat says she heard a dozen shots

Voice of: Resident of building
"About 12 shots."

Jules Vasquez
"Do you know who it is?"

Voice of: Resident of building
"No I didn't see his face. He wore a long sleeve and a black hood."

The hooded gunman fatally injured two teenaged boys:

Supt. Dennis Arnold, OC - Orange Walk Town
"The young man Daniel Valdez, sixteen years and Michael Usher, seventeen years old. Valdez was shot to the right side of his throat where the bullet exited through his back. Usher was shot to the right side of the chest. They were transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where about an hour later, both of them succumbed to their injuries."

"Both persons are known to the police. We have Valdez, tomorrow, he should have attend court for the possession of drugs and I believe that Usher - he is no stranger to the police, he was charge for drug trafficking recently."

Reporter
"The family is saying that Valdez, has always been harassed by the police and they kind of suspected that the trigger man was a police officer. Are you guys looking into that?"

Supt. Dennis Arnold, OC - Orange Walk Town
"Tell them bring any information they have in relation to that. Things like that, as I have explain over and over, I will always be impartial and I will not have to police do anybody any foolishness out there on the street."

Two dead teenagers - and police say they don't know what prompted the shooting - but they do have a clue linking one suspect to the deceased:

Supt. Dennis Arnold, OC - Orange Walk Town
"Information revealed that in early January, the person we have in custody and one of the deceased had a run-in. but I don't really know its stem back from then and right up to now. But we are investigating."

Usher's family declined comment today. Police are trying to gather statements to implicate the accused.
