Hibiscus Home Burned
posted (April 7, 2015)
A family is homeless tonight after their home burned down yesterday. It happened at 6724 Hibiscus Street yesterday morning at around 8:00. The owners of the house were not there when the fire started but when they arrived at their home only blackened remains were scattered in the yard - they lost everything. They believe it was arson and told Courtney Weatherburne about it today:..

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
We found 58 year old Robert Tracey sitting on this broken refrigerator in his yard - which also serves as his outhouse - surveying the damage after the fire that destroyed his house.

Tracey has been living here for over 34 years and the life he once knew was shattered overnight.

Robert Tracey, "Lost everything in fire"
"When I come home to sleep, there was no house."

Courtney Weatherburne
"You live here alone right?"

Robert Tracey, "Lost everything in fire"
"Alone. Not alone - me, my shadow, my spirit and the holy father."

Courtney Weatherburne
"You are saying that they definitely burnt down your house? This wasn't any accident or any electrical problems?"

Robert Tracey, "Lost everything in fire"
"No. There is no electricity there and I don't live with candles. I live without light. I live with only the moonlight and the sunlight."

According to his daughter Lisa, a group of mischievous boys from the neighborhood burnt their house down. While the police suspect it is arson, they have no one detained as yet.

Supt. Hilberto Romero, O.C., - CIB
"We know that they say that there was no electricity or no one at the house at the time the occupant had left the house earlier and she returned and found the house on fire. So, again, that is being followed at this time."

Reporter
"Is arson suspected?"

Supt. Hilberto Romero, O.C., - CIB
"We suspect arson and we are following up on that."

The house and all the valuables belonged to the daughter Lisa Tracy. She gave the house to her father. Lisa is asking for assistance to get her and her father's life back to normal. If you would like to help you can call 631 0172.
