Killer Waylaid “Judas” Rhamdas With Wife and Child
posted (April 9, 2015)
Last night at the top of the news we told you about a murder that happened on Albert Street West, just down the street from our studio. Tonight police have a suspect detained - a suspect who was positively identified by security camera footage. He waylaid 25 year old Mark Rhamdas at his home to kill him - even if it meant doing it in front of his common law wife and young child. Daniel Ortiz has more:..

Daniel Ortiz reporting
Up until about 5:15 p.m., 25 year-old Mark Rhamdas and his family were socializing on the verandah of their Albert Street home, through this alley off Albert Street West. About 20 minutes later, he left the house on his motorcycle to pick up his girlfriend 21-year-old Etheline Mejia from work.

He took his 4 year-old son with him, and at just a few minutes before 6:00, he was returning on the motorcycle, and he had his girlfriend and his son with him as passengers. They were halfway through the alley, just a short distance from his house, when a gunman who had been lurking around, ambushed them.

Rhamdas reportedly realized what was about to happen, and he pushed his son lower on the bike, and put himself in front of his family to try to shield them from danger. That assailant fired about 5 shots at close range and shot him in the chest and to the feet while his common law wife, Etheline Mejia was shot in the buttocks. Rhamdas ran unto Albert Street West, where he collapsed. He and his girlfriend were rushed to the KHMH, but Rhamdas' injuries were fatal - he had been fatally shot in front of his family:

Supt. Hilberto Romero - OC, CIB Eastern Division
"This time we have one person in custody. We are reviewing a footage from the area. We are recording statements and hopefully we can ascertain what actually transpired there. I know he was riding a motorcycle through an alley when he was shot."

Reporter
"Have you established a motive?"

Supt. Hilberto Romero - OC, CIB Eastern Division
"We do not have a clear motive at this time. We know Mark Rhamdas has been charged before for some shootings and firearms."

Rhamdas was the father of 4 children.

In 2012, he, his common-law wife, and his mother were jointly charged with drug trafficking for 5.22 ounces of marijuana which was reportedly found near the fence of his house, through that alley where he was killed last night. While his family had no comments for us today, they did tell us that this case has been repeatedly adjourned, and should have been thrown out of court by now.

The suspect in this murder is from Ladyville.
