Teenager Murdered In Roaring Creek
posted (May 11, 2015)
And while a 60 year old was the victim in Ladyville - in Roaring Creek, the victim was only 16! The teenager's body was found on Friday night around 7:00 on a feeder road - 3 miles off the George Price Highway. A farmer who was in the area apparently found his body and called the police. Now why would someone want this young man dead? That's what we tried to find out today.

Menelva Baiza, Mother
"He came the night and brought a pack of cornflakes for my little girl and he told her to tell mom 'I'm coming back right now, I'm going to buy some groceries for her'. And that was it, I never saw my son and I stayed up all night about 2am in the morning. I checked in his room, no Glasford. I stayed up all day watching TV and waited all day for him Friday morning, he didn't come. Until the police came and told me that they found a body."

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
That body was identified as her son, 16 year old Glasford Thomas. His body was found among these bushes, about a quarter mile in - on the Golf Course road.

Menelva Baiza, Mother
"My son was home all day Thursday- the entire week he was home all week, until in the evening like around 2:30 - 3."

Courtney Weatherburne
"What day was that? Was that Friday? Or?"

Menelva Baiza, Mother
"That was Thursday in the afternoon when Kenrick Neal came to pick him up to go and do a job - A guy picked him up to go do some construction work. So he didn't come home until the night."

Courtney Weatherburne
"Like around what time?"

Menelva Baiza, Mother
"Like around 6:30 - 7:00 or so. I went down the road to drop up some stuff for one of my friends. When I got this call that told me to come home, they said 'come now it sounds like they killed your son'. So when I came, I met the police at the front over there and I said to them 'tell me what you have to tell me, tell me now'. So the police said they found a body and it has a tattoo on the left chest that marks 'Menelva'. I said 'that is my son'. I went to see the body at the hospital and his face was cut up like they were torturing him. Then he had three gun shots, one in his face, one under his ribs and one in his back. So I believe it's not the cuts that killed him, it's the gun shots, his bruises and things. And when they killed him, they threw him way at the back of the gulf place."

And she says she knows who killed her son and left his body there.

Menelva Baiza, Mother
"To be honest and truthful, he had some friends who he hang out with here and they had already threatened him. I believe he was trying to stray away from the crowd and he decided to go back or they called him and he just went. I believe he went straight to his death as well. because I'd say like if I had some friends and they were bad guys and I would strayed and went back to them, they will say well 'I'll do you something' or set up something right there so they killed him here."

And her brother was the last person to see her son alive on Thursday night and the first to see his lifeless body

Paul Baiza, Uncle
"I was the last one to see my nephew because I was coming in from work that night. And he said 'uncle give me a drink' and I said 'well let's go home and we'll drink home better'. You know, so as to not drink on the street. After that he just got on his bike and continued to ride coming up towards the road. And that was the last time I saw him. He wasn't really up to a standard of being a good boy, but he was living a good life from I told him he's living a fast life. I told him to calm down and to relax a little. He had calmed down for a little while but that night, he just went and never returned back home."

Indeed he didn't, instead, he was lead to his death and the police are still trying to unravel this case.

Supt. Howell Gillett - OC, - Belmopan Police
"On Friday last, sometime around 7pm we received information of a body in the Roaring River Golf Course Road. This is located approximately 3 miles off the George Price Highway and about 15 feet off that feeder road we discovered the lifeless body of Mr. Glasford Thomas, 16 years old of Roaring Creek Village. He was seen with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper part of the body. The body was later transported to the Western Regional Hospital Morgue. So far we are pursuing a number of motives but there's no clear motive at this point. So we appeal on the public to kindly pass on any information that may lead to an arrest or arrest of the person or persons who may be responsible for this crime."

Police have no one detained so far. The post mortem was performed this afternoon and it revealed that he was shot 3 times - once to the head, rib area and back. Thomas was going to start high school in June. He is the second teenager to be killed in a week; last week Wednesday in Orange Walk, 18 year old Derrick Romero was murdered.
