In 2007, Krismar Espinosa was charged for the murder of 24 year old mother Rachel Chun. And now, eight years later he has been convicted for manslaughter. On Wednesday in the northern session of the Supreme Court, after two hours of deliberation, a jury of 12 persons was unable to reach a unanimous verdict of guilty for murder - so they found him guilty of manslaughter.
In September of 2007, Chun was believed to have been taken into an abandoned building in Santa Familia, sexually assaulted and then bludgeoned with a cement block. She was found days later, half naked and decomposing. She was last seen with Esipnoza in front of her home.
He will be sentenced on June 18th.
But the 26 year old Espinoza still has another murder trial pending. He was accused of killing his cell mate Keon Swasey on Christmas Eve of 2009. He had gotten off, but the Court of Appeal rule din 2014 that he must face a new trial for the same charge.
