posted (June 9, 2015)
Last night we gave you a breakdown of the PSE results and also spoke to the top finisher: Bernice Yorke student Gabriel Hope. Well, as we told you he wasn't the only one with an outstanding record. There is a list of 26 top performers and today we spoke to 7 of them on how intense their preparation process was for this exam and the road ahead. We start off with 3 students from Belize Elementary School, then move on to 2 9th place finishers from Bernice York and end off with the 3 top finishers from Hummingbird Elementary.

Courtney Weatherburne
"Tell us about your level of preparation. How intense was it for you preparing for the PSE?"

Sahil Hotchandani - 3rd Place from BES
"I studied hard. I didn't study from last minute I studied from September I started studying. Every weekend I would study an hour maybe two hours and my parents pushed me really hard. They motivated me they kept me updated with everything that was going on and I guess that hard work was paid off. I found out yesterday and I was surprise. I knew I was going to do well, that was my goal. My goal was to do good and to come in top 25 but it was still such a shock for me and I was so happy."

Megan Williams - 4th Place, BES
"It was amazing because, see I just got here this year so it was amazing to find out that I got in fourth out of the whole country."

Courtney Weatherburne
"What do you mean you came here this year? Where did you come from?"

Megan Williams - 4th Place, BES
"I came from Jacksonville, Florida in the US and we moved here just this year so I came here in standard 6 and this was the big test that I had to prepare for so really I didn't mean to come in fourth I wanted to get an overall A out of everything."

Rohit Pagarani - 9th Place, BES
"I studied from before. I didn't want to study last minute because I would just stress myself out and when I took my first exam I was quite nervous but then I had to shake it off and I just prepared well."

Davijah Betancourt - 9th Place, Bernice Yorke School
"It was really challenging to prepare for it but even though it was really hard to study and to keep to your time schedules I know my friends and my families and my teachers really helped me through it all. They helped me not to think too much about it and to put too much pressure on myself."

Vanya Peters - 9th Place Bernice Yorke
"It was like after 4 o'clock my mom got a phone call. She was all calm so I thought it was just a normal phone call. it was not until few minutes after that she told me I got 90 and that I'm tied with. I was surprise. I did not expect this."

Courtney Weatherburne
"Surprise in a good way that you're excited or surprised that you believe that you should have ranked maybe 2nd or 3rd?"

Vanya Peters - 9th Place Bernice Yorke
"I was surprised in a good way. I knew I would do good but I didn't know I would rank in the top 10."

Madyson Burrowes - 14th Place, Hummingbird Elementary
"I didn't really study months before like a couple of weeks before it but that's because our teacher in class worked hard in getting us prepared for it."

Courtney Weatherburne
"So it's just pretty much a revision for you going into the exam?"

Morgan Mahler - 9th Place, Hummingbird Elementary
"I was very nervous but my friends helped to calm me down a bit."

Courtney Weatherburne
"So when did you find out about this accomplishment? Did your parents call you? Did your teacher call you?"

Morgan Mahler - 9th Place, Hummingbird Elementary
"Yesterday my parents called and told me in the evening."

Courtney Weatherburne
"So what's next for you? I am sure that you have application forms for high school. What is next for you?"

Morgan Mahler - 9th Place, Hummingbird Elementary
"Well I hope to do well in high school."

Courtney Weatherburne
"What high school? Any high school of choice or interest?"

Morgan Mahler - 9th Place, Hummingbird Elementary
"St. Catherine's"

Courtney Weatherburne
"What will be your advice to your fellow classmates in terms of preparing and studying for an exam? What was your key to success?"

Ayah Safa - 26th Place, Hummingbird Elementary
"Well, paying attention in class, that's the main thing, remembering everything your teacher says, doing your revision at home."
