Today the Belize Emergency Response Team (BERT) and the Western Regional Hospital each got a brand new Ambulance from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development. It's part of the Government's Road Safety Project that has been launched with financing from the Caribbean Development Bank.
The authorities want to minimize the number of traffic accidents along the George Price Highway from Belize City to Belmopan, but they acknowledge that there is always the possibility that an accident can happen even under the safest conditions - which is where ambulances come in. So today, the Executive Director of BERT expressed gratitude for the donation:
