Last night, we told you how police arrested and charged Coast Guard officer Keyren Tzib for the crime of manslaughter after witnesses say that she fatally stabbed her common-law husband Thytis Blancaneaux. In our coverage, you heard when his landlord say that their relationship was physically and verbally abusive, and that on the day in question, the deceased was the one who attacked first. That would suggest that Blancaneaux is the aggressor, so what does his family have to say about all of this?
Well, our colleagues from Love News spoke with his sister late yesterday evening. In that interview, she recounted the family's observations of the dynamics the couple's relationship which she said is best described as "volatile". She said that Tzib made the worst possible first impression on their family when they had the couple over for their first introduction:

"We knew nothing about the young lady other than she was in the Coast Guard. It wasn't until after my mom passed in April over Easter. The same weekend we buried my mom, we found out that the young lady got into that incident with her co-worker and she was arrested because my brother contacted us at the time to let us know but we still hadn't met her as yet."
"When they had the nine-night service for my mom she was still in custody. She was at Hattieville at that point and he went alone and then it was sometime later in April or early May where he call to ask if they could come up and spent the weekend. So they came to the house and that was a disaster. It reached the point where we told him, he was welcome to comeback but he couldn't bring her to the house anymore because her behaviour was really out of order and we didn't appreciate some of the things she did. They ended up in an altercation there because she was drinking and she wasn't supposed to be because she was on medication. He tried to get her to stop. She wouldn't listen. She stormed out of the house and went to a bar. He chased behind her despite our request that he just leave her be. He followed her. They got in a fight. She hit him in the face with a bottle and he bit her on the arm. He ended up locked up that night and he got charged the next day for it and that's a fine still pending in San Ignacio. Then at that point when she went back to the house to pick up her belongings she said that she was tired of it that was it. She was finished."
"I went to his court case, saw it through. When he was finished he came to the house and he asked for a bag to pack his belongings because he was going to leave according to him. We didn't believe it but he left and we didn't hear anything for a few days. Next thing you hear, they're back together sweet as ever. So I guess speaking to the landlord today when we went to pick up his belongings, in his estimation they were in love as crazy as it was. So their relationship I think the best word to describe it was volatile. She was clearly very unstable and that's from our observation when she was in our home."
"He also had many of his own issues. They both had baggage and it's unfortunate that the way things turned out and to a large extend I think they were trying their best to balance each other out but they both needed so much help that just was not possible. Everybody saw but they just refuse to accept that and they were both adults so there was nothing anybody could do but leave them alone and this is the result. Because when he left the house that day we told him that if 2 of you do not get a handle on your drinking and learn to control yourselves, it more than likely will end up that one of you end up killing the other."
Yesterday, we managed to speak with a few of the couple's friends about the dynamics of the couple's relationship from their perspective. One of Blancaneaux's friends, who was there with the couple drinking on Saturday, told us that in his opinion, he was jealous and overly attached to Tzib. The friend told us that Tzib declared a few times that she would leave the relationship, and he refused to accept that.
