In June of this year four hundred and sixty four Belize City students graduated from the police department's Gang Resistance Education and Training Program. It is a life skills program facilitated by police officers in an attempt at intervention in the lives of at risk youths. A part of the program involves motivating the youngsters to do well and rewarding them for their actions. Today 11 year old Jayden Herrera was one of those rewarded with five hundred dollars to help with his education. Here's how he earned that money.
The GREAT program first started out as a pilot project in 2011 and quickly expanded.
