There was no official notification sent to the press, and we're still waiting for confirmation from the government press office, but 7News has learned that the Vice President of Venezuela, JORGE ARREAZA visited Belize today for a meeting with Prime Minister Dean Barrow. Arreaza flew in this afternoon and went directly to the Prime Minister's Coney Drive Office where they met for an hour.
He left at about 5:00 - and headed north presumably for the airport. We don't know anything about the subject of the meeting or why it was sho hastily convened. As we said, the media was not invited. The Government Press office promised us an official press release, but, we're still waiting.
Arreaza is married to Hugo Chavez's daughter who accompanied him. More on the visit in our next segment.
