Former LICU CEO Yolanda Gomez Says Board Attack Is Personal
posted (August 21, 2015)
The special general meeting of the LA Inmaculada Credit Union will be held tomorrow in Orange Walk Town, and it promises to be combative - because loyalties within the union membership is split over former General Manager Yolanda Gomez. She was at the Credit Union for 24 years before she was sacked at the end of July - and as you might expect as boss of the biggest credit union in the north for all those years - she has many allies. Those allies are the ones who circulated a petition forcing a special general meeting - and on Wednesday - the Board of Directors mad a most unusual pre-emptory maneuver. The president recorded a 12 minute televised statement in which she made eleven allegations against Gomez, accusing her of a conflict of interest, fraud, quote, "substantial cash shortage", forgery and, quote, "big financial losses of at least half a million Belize dollars!" Those are some severe allegations of wrongdoing, and iut drew out Gomez to appear on Orange Walk talk shows this morning. Here's what she said on Fiesta FM's "Despierta Belice":

As you heard, Gomez will attend the meeting tomorrow, which almost ensures a showdown of some type between the board and her supporters.
