A Just Jungle
posted (August 21, 2015)
Last night, we showed you how Assistant Police Commissioner Dezerie Phillips and the officers of Eastern Division North were on a clean up campaign in the Majestic Alley area. Well, today, they went back to the Pickstock Hutment - better known as the "Pickstock Jungle" - continue what they started last week Thursday.

We dropped by and found the officers engaging with this impoverished community and donating items to needy families so that they could prepare for when school opens. ACP Phillips told us more:

One other person who we met in the "Jungle" is Roger Espejo, the UDP Standard Bearer for Fort George. He was busy preparing breakfast for a family who lives in one of the apartments. Breakfast for votes? We had to ask him if he was being genuine or simply profiling for the cameras:

The police department is working with the residents of the Pickstock Hutment to regularize their access to electricity, instead of the illegal rigging of wires which is the norm right now.
