Parents Having Faith In Faith Nazarene Manager
posted (September 2, 2015)

Last week Friday, we told how the parents and the teachers of Faith Nazarene Primary School in San Ignacio, Cayo, were agitating to have the current principal, Policarpia Pech, removed from office. They have a laundry list of complaints against her, ranging from accusations of poor management, disenfranchising the teaching staff, and a lack of respect for the parents of the student population.

Management of the Nazarene Primary Schools have investigated their complaints and they have taken actions to try to remove her, within the guidelines of the rules of the teaching profession. The management has sent a written complaint, along with a written report of an in depth investigation, to the Teaching Services Commission. That's the only body within the Education Ministry that can remove her, and the Commission has yet to make any final decision on whether the complaints warrant her removal or not.

In the interim, General Manager Raymond Shepherd has been appointed to the post of local manager of Faith Nazarene, and he will oversee the direction of the school's day to day management until the final decision is in. He's only acting as an interim manager, and he told us last week, that this was done to show the commitment that the management has to the resolution of the complaints that teachers and parents have made.

Some parents were seriously considering removing their children from the school, but yesterday, the school opened as per normal. The Principal, Policarpia Pech, has not reported to work as yet because she sent in a medical form which says that she was sick. She declined comment to us on Friday, but she has spoken to our colleagues from Love FM, refuting any and all the complaints that the teachers and parents have formally brought against her to the Management. She refers to those matters raised as quote, "fabricated lies, hearsay and mischief".

She points out that there is no legal barrier stopping her from resuming her duties as principal, which she intends to do on next week Monday. Inside information to 7News is that the teachers insist that they do not want to work with the teacher. General Manager Raymond outranks the principal, and so it will make for an interesting day to see how he will act as mediator to try to keep the school operating as normal. Things are quiet right now because the deputy principal is acting as principal of the school, but when Pech reports for work Monday, she will take over with Shepherd as her immediate superior.
