This afternoon the US Embassy in Belmopan signed over grant funds to 7 Belizean organizations working for community outreach.
It's a part of the Central American Regional Security Initiative's Economic Support Funds, and the Ambassador's HIV Prevention Program.
So, to qualify, these 7 organizations were had to convince the vetting team from the Embassy that these funds to are going to benefit the community.
The US Ambassador told us today that these recipients are being given a total of almost a million US dollars:
These receiving organizations are Belize Credit Union League, the Building People Movement, PathLight International, RET International, the Youth Enhancement Services, the Empower Yourself Belize Movement, and the Love Foundation Belize.
