Papas Nominated; Ready To Challenge Pablo

In our last segment we showed you how nomination day looked in the West, but we had another news team in the North, and in the morning, they were in Corozal Town when PUP's Gregorio "Papas" Garcia went in for his nomination in the Corozal Bay Constituency.

He's trying to unseat UDP's Pablo Marin who remained under pressure while he served in the Barrow Administration as the Minister of Health. We asked his Garcia if his perceived failures might play into his electability in his division. Here's what he told us:

Shortly afterwards, we went to see how Garcia's PUP colleague, David Castillo, as he went to accept his nomination in Corozal North. He's running against incumbent Hugo Patt, who had a short 3 year and 8-month term in office. Castillo is also the son of PUP's Valdemar Castillo, a long time representative in that same division. The younger Castillo told us today that he is hoping to return Corozal North back to the PUP after November 4th.

Our news team then headed to Orange Walk to see how Nomination's day played out in that other northern district. We'll tell you about shortly, but first, we got a chance to get a response from Hugo Patt, the UDP politician trying to defend his Corozal North Seat. He spoke to us shortly before heading out with his entourage to go get nominated. He told us that he believes that the voters will look favorably on the work he's done in his division for his first, abridged term in office:
