PHILLOUGHBY SAYS ON FLOOD…
posted (October 26, 2015)
The flood waters have receded in the city and as we have been showing you residents are trying to get their life back to normal. A part of that process of normalcy is cleaning up and the City Council has organized a campaign to do just that - but they say they need your help. The Council held a press conference this evening asking residents for assistance. Councillor Phillip Willoughby told us how you can help.

So again the council is urging all city residents to collect all the garbage from your house, yard and surrounding areas and place them at the front so sanitation workers can pick it up. This cleanup campaign starts on Thursday. Residents are also asked to not use sludge waste as landfill because it poses a serious health hazard.

Now, how about the handing out of food, clothing and other supplies? Besides, that is the priority area. Willoughby told us that the relief and response team and Human Development officers are still on the ground handing out packages but that he can't delve into that area or give a specific number as to how many residents have gotten help. The details of the damage assessment is in the Belize City 2015 Flooding Report which has not officially been launched as yet. It will be sent to the Prime Minister tomorrow.
