BDF Team Up With US Southcom to Burn Weed
posted (November 2, 2015)

The Ministry of National Security is reporting tonight that a Law Enforcement team consisting of the BDF, the Coast Guard, police, and the United State Southern Command has destroyed approximately 61 million dollars' worth of marijuana.

The operation was planned by the Joint Intelligence Operation Center. The JIOC, viewers may remember, is a facility on the Price Barracks Compound which pools the resources and intelligence of all law enforcement agencies to make policing easier and more effective.

The team of Belizean law enforcement were assisted with helicopter support by the US Southern Command's Joint Taskforce Bravo. These marijuana fields were located in remote areas of north, west and south of the country, and without the helicopter support, the operation would not have been possible.

So, from October 25th to the thirtieth, Belizean personnel destroyed just under 51 thousand marijuana plants, along with 300 pounds of compressed marijuana, all to a total street value of 61 million Belize dollars.
