The Big Political Picture
posted (November 3, 2015)
And so that ends the news - this last newscast before the big day - when for us in Belize, it will seem as if the world stands still while 16 of 31 divisions dominate the nation's attention. Tomorrow we'll team up with KREM TV and Radio to have all day, all night coverage - but to get you warmed up - here's a pre-game teaser.

196 thousand, 587 voters from Corozal North to Toledo West will vote at about 150 polling stations countrywide.

Numerically, the largest division is Belmopan, with over nine thousand voters, while Stan Creek West and Belize Rural South are second and third. In terms of area on the map, the largest division is Belize Rural South, followed by Toledo East and Orange Walk South. The smallest in size are Mesopotamia, Pickstock, Queen Square, and Fort George.

Three of those are also the safest seats in the country - and you can guess which one isn't - that's Pickstock where incumbent Wilfred Sedi Elrington has come under heavy fire. His division is one of the battlegrounds, on par with Orange Walk East, Corozal Bay, Cayo Central, Freetown and Belize Rural Central. Whoever wins those seats, is likely to win it all…and we'll know how it's trending by around 9:30 pm. But it starts much earlier, tomorrow morning at 6:00 am, when you can join me along with Mose Hyde, Daedra Haylock and Jules Vasquez as we begin the coverage of COVAD 2015. We've got a national team of correspondents - and a colourful team of analysts - who will provide insight and information unmatched. So join us starting at 6:00 am - just a few hours' time….

Goodnight, get some rest and join us back here tomorrow.
