Another Minister of State who says his skills and education will effect change is Elodio Aragon Jr. He was appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Education with a focus on culture, youth and sports. Now some may question why he wasn't given the post in the Ministry of National Security - given his experience as a former Deputy Commissioner of Police and a trained criminologist. He told us that he respects the Prime Minister's decision and that in his view, there is no better reward than working with the youth in education.

"Looking at the portfolio in which you have been given. Would you expecting something more in the line of national security because of your career as a police officer?"

Hon. Elodio Aragon Jr., Minister of State - Youth, Sports and Culture
"Well of course, that is always the first impression you have. You are professional in an area - you might think well may be that is that area that I would best serve. But when you think about it, what is bigger than dealing with the young people in this country when it comes to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture and I do think that there is a big impact that can be done there. Definitely being in that position I think it's a great opportunity for us to begin to look seriously of how we deal with our young people, how we develop sports in this country and deal with culture. I do think that an opportunity that I am glad to take up and I am looking forward to making things happen in that ministry."

"However, a young politician and a young representative who is a qualified person. You have a master's degree. Should the Prime Minister perhaps not have look so much at who has won so many elections, but should he have looked at who can renew the party and should you have been more involve in those considerations than have been contemplated as a full minister?"

Hon. Elodio Aragon Jr.
"Jules, at the end of the day those are the decision of the Prime Minister and I have deep respect for him. I know at the leadership level that he is, he has to make certain decisions and I think those questions are best answered by him. But what I can tell you is that I look forward to working with the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Culture and I do believe that when you look at crime, a lot of it has to stem be dealt with from when people are young and I do think this to a large extent will give me that work and drive to get things done so we could then in the long term curb the crime situation."
