16 year old Nisa Sanchez burst unto the national scene a few weeks ago as an academic phenom: she passed 15 CSEC exams with a grade one, and one with a grade 2. She addressed the awards ceremony with wit and wisdom. But, this child of wonder didn't have quite a wondrous start in life. She is the daughter of Honduran Immigrants and had a challenging upbringing. As a girl, she went through garbage with her father looking for scrap metal; and she never even went to preschool. She got into EP Yorke still struggling financially - and had to sell tacos with her mother.
