As we told you yesterday, the Joint Forces Forward Operating Base will be built at the mouth of the Sarstoon. A number of high ranking officials, government ministers and representatives from friendly countries were there for the ground breaking ceremony on Wednesday. All except officials from the US - who were invited but didn't appear. Well we asked the US Ambassador about their absence today and he said the invitation came at a very short notice.

"I think Minister Saldivar would confirm this that the notice that we got was quite short and without any invitation from the Ministry of National Security as well as from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, this week with all the events happening before the holidays, its simply was impossible for us to attend that ceremony some 4 hours away. It was a bad day and the notice was very short."
Guatemala was also invited but they were a no show.
