Two more Guatemalans were caught in the Chiquibul - and these ones had a firearm. 25 year olds Ever Lopez Zuchitte, and Juan Antonio Cabrera Saldivar from San Jose Las Flores Peten were detained on Wednesday. Lopez Zuchitte was found with a black 9 millimeter with six live rounds.
Both men were 250 meters inside the Chiquibul National Park but said they did not know they were in Belize since the line dividing the two countries is not visible. They apparently they rent the land to plant their crops.
According to the Friends for Conservation and Development, persons from their village are known to plant corn and pumpkin inside the Chiquibul National Park. Some 33 families live in the village and they have no health services or electricity.
Both were charged for "Illegal Entry", while Suchitte was additionally charged with "Kept Firearm without a Gun License and Kept Ammunition without a Gun License".
