Last night, we told you about 55 year-old Luciano Evaristo Bul, the farmer from the village of San Pedro Colombia in the Toledo District who was chopped and then shot to death. Well, Punta Gorda Police are reporting tonight that they have charged 4 men for his murder, and those accused, are waiting to be transported to Belize Central Prison.

They are 21 year-old Pedro Cus Jr. 20 year-old Seferino Cho, 18 year-old Robert Chen, and a 16 year-old minor, who are all residents of San Pedro Colombia, where the deceased lived as well.

This evening, the Commander of the Punta Gorda Police Station told us that the 4 accused persons cooperated with police, and led them to find a .410 shotgun which is believed to be the weapon used to shoot and kill Bul after he was chopped. The men also led them to another prohibited weapon a 223 semi-automatic rifle, which had a magazine containing 5 live rounds of 5.56 ammunition.

He told via telephone that as a result, they've all been charged with murder, and Pedro Cus has been charged for illegal firearm:

"On yesterday's date, the 29th of December 2015, in reference to the death of Evaristo Bul, 55 years old of Colombia village. Police formally arrest and charged 4 persons, namely Pedro Cus Jr. 21 years old, Robert Chen 18 years old, Stefarino Cho 20 years old and a 16 year old minor, all from the village of Colombia for the crime of murder. Additionallty for the firearms we recovered police arrest and charged Pedro Cus Jr. 21 years old for being in possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition that was recovered also in the village of Colombia."

"Well the suspect that was detained, they cooperated with the investigators and as a result of that they firearm was recovered and due to their assistance with the police in finding out the culprit that were responsible for the crime, they admitted and as a result of that statements were taken from them and they were formally arrested and charged."

"I strongly believe that yes, one of the firearms that was recovered is the weapon used in shooting the deceased but to verify which one of the firearm, that will be diagnosed after the post-mortem examination."

So as you heard, in addition being jointly charged along with the other 3 men for murder, 21 year-old Pedro Cus Jr. has been charged with keeping a prohibited firearm for the semi-automatic pistol, keeping prohibited ammunition for the 5.56 bullets, and keeping an unlicensed weapon for the shotgun.

All 4 have been arraigned in Magistrate's Court, and they've been remanded to the Belize Central Prison, where they will wait for their Supreme Court Trial..
