One of Belize City's most well liked meatpie makers got robbed this afternoon. It happened around 3:25 PM on New Road at Pou meatpie. According to reports from eyewitnesses in the neighborhood, the woman who runs the business, known to them only as "Ms Pou" walked to the gate of the business to collect five hundred dollars. She was counting the money, and that's when a young man ran up and tried to snatch it from her. But she put up a fight, and he threw her to ground and dragged her as she clutched unto the money and he tried to wrest it away. She burst her head, and he left her on the sidewalk, as he dashed away into the Jungle area off Pickstock Street. That's when a car swooped in to pick him up and drove off. "Ms Pou" had to be taken to the hospital, and there's no update on her condition tonight.
