Weed-whacker For A 93 Year Old
posted (January 5, 2016)
Last night you saw our interview with 93 year old beating victim Patrick Grant. He's back home recovering after six days in the hospital - and last night he told us that the thing he misses most is the weed whacker that was stolen from him. That's because - the senior citizen still likes to cut his own grass. Well, the Belmopan police heard him loud and clear and today the Officer Commanding called us to say that they're getting him a new weed whacker.

They're doing so through the assistance of a generous businessman and this evening, we stopped by to pick up Grant's new weed wacker. Here's what the donors told us about it:

Supt. Howell Gillett, OC - Belmopan Police
"I don't know Mr. Grant, more than what I've seen on the television and it touch my heart to know that this old gentleman suffered such an attack. Its ruthless, it's senseless in my view and I said you know, we at Belmopan Police has to do something about it to help. It's not in our jurisdiction, but that doesn't matter. A citizen in need of help any part of this country is in my view, if not our responsibility, then we must do something about it. It could have been one of our own citizens who was viciously attacked like that and I want to say thanks to Mr. Paul Guerra who every time we need help and I not hate, but I dislike to have to go to him, because he is not a guy who can tell you no and in ten minutes time after I call him, we had this here. So I am happy to hand it over to you."

Daniel Ortiz
"We see that you are collaborating with Belmopan Police Commander to hand over this weed eater. Why make such a generous gesture?"

Paul Guerra
"That's because we work very close with Mr. Gillett and also with the police department here in Belmopan and I did also see the situation with the gentleman and it really touch my heart and when he mentioned it to me - us being a community-based company, we work very close to the community and we do whatever we can to assist."

Normally, a weed whacker of this brand is sold for 14 hundred dollars, but Grant will of course get it for free. We intend to deliver it to Grant tomorrow.
