Cops Have No Suspects For Anne Swaney’s Murder
posted (January 21, 2016)
Just about a week ago, American journalist Anne Swaney, was found dead n the Mopan River, and investigators, both from the Police Department and the Agents from FBI are no closer to solving her murder tonight.

We've checked with the investigators from Benque and from the Police Press Office, but neither would confirm if police have shifted their focus away from Guatemalan fisherman, 24 year-old Victor Manuel Franco Menjivar as a main suspect. Viewers will remember that he was found illegally in the general area where she went missing. He's spending a 6 month prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to illegal entry into Belize.

But, while the police remain tight lipped, international press reports say that the investigators have started to looking in other directions for possible leads in this case. A news team from ABC 7 in Chicago, the media house where Swaney worked, has been in the country, and they've been following the story with great interest. Here is their story on the latest developments:

This evening, the police press officer told us while he cannot confirm if police have shifted focus away from Menjivar, should they need to investigate him again in the near future, he's easily accessible since he's currently in prison. Both Belizean and American authorities have been making great efforts to try to get to the bottom of this crime, but so far, there are no results.
