And while those are some of the agreements already finalized, there are several more bilateral agreements between the Governments of Mexico and Belize that aim towards advancing the tourism industry in both countries. One sector that is being explored is transportation. During his address the Mexican Ambassador expressed his enthusiasm to begin formal talks in that area:

H.E. Carlos Quesnel Melendez - Mexican Ambassador to Belize
"And also started talks on the passenger and cargo transportation, tourism transportation. We would like to see more busses coming to Belize, but we would also like to see more busses going to Mexico. That will also help both countries in promoting especially tourism in both ways."

As it is, only one Mexican bus line - ADO- travels to and from Belize. In the case of Belizean bus lines there are a few that travel across the border but they are only allowed as far as Chetumal. Now what's holding them back is the fact that Belizean buses don't meet Mexican road safety standards. The Ambassador discussed that too:..

H.E. Carlos Quesnel Melendez - Mexican Ambassador to Belize
"We were talking on getting, specially getting benefits also to the Belizean buses that come to Mexico to get the support of from Mexican companies and the Mexican government to improve the units of the buses of Belize, so that they can comply with the standards that was decided in Mexico."
