Belizeans Convicted Of Stealing From US Government
posted (January 21, 2016)
4 Belizeans living in the US are awaiting their sentence from the US High Court after they were convicted of fraud in Las Vegas. Federal Investigators say that they all acted together to steal on $300,000 US in unemployment funds and other benefits from the US Government.

US District Judge James Mahan presided over a 10-day trial in which Assistant US Attorney Gregory Damm presented evidence for the prosecution against the 4 defendants. They are 35 year-old Fredrick Williams, his sister, 27 year-old Jaqueline Louisa Gentle, his wife, 36 year-old Denise Williams, and his other sister, 40 year-old Carolyn Shemadine Willis-Casey. The prosecution's case was that the defendants used false identifies, falsified information on passport applications, and were dishonest in applications, all in an effort to steal federal benefits from multiple agencies, including the Departments of Labour, Agriculture, Education, Health, Human Services, and the Social Security Administration. The Federal jury heard evidence that their sustained dishonesty allowed them to get their hands over quarter million dollars of government funds.

Fredrick Williams and Jacqueline Gentle were convicted of conspiracy to commit mail fraud, aggravated identity theft, mail fraud, theft of government money, making a false statement in application for a passport, and making false citizenship claims. Gentle was additional convicted of misusing a US passport, and a US Social Security number.

The other 2 defendants, Denise Williams, and Carolyn Willis-Casey were convicted of fraud for their lesser roll in the theft scheme.

US authorities told the press in that country that this case was investigated by more than a half dozen federal agencies.
