Earlier in the news, we told you about the case of the bail hearing of businessman Jahan Abadi of Belmopan and Korean Hyang Choing Park which happened before Magistrate Albert Hoare. Well, the DPP called us to say that she was not hospitalized, she simply had to go to the hospital for medication for her voice because she is hoarse.
She added that defense attorney Arthurs was disingenuous to suggest that her office is cooperating to get these two defendants bail. She said that the prosecution is objecting to Hyan Choing Park getting bail because she is a flight risk, and in relation to Jahan Abadi, she told us that her office has not been served with documents for his bail.
Also, Arthurs suggested that Magistrate Hoare allowed them permission to arrive at court at 12:30 p.m. but held the bail hearing before they arrived. Magistrate Hoare did say in open court that he did not know anything of the attorneys for the defendants arriving late, and that he was only just passed a note saying that the attorneys would not make it. He also noted that it was these two attorneys who helped to decide the time, and that they should have been in court at the agreed time to represent their clients.
