The Gang Suppression Unit Conducted an operation yesterday that, all told, led to the seizure of nearly a kilo of weed - more than two pounds.

The first discovery was made around 10 in the morning when the GSU conducted an operation on St. Jude Street in Belize City. They searched an open lot and discovered 871 grams of cannabis hidden among some plantain trees. No one was around the immediate area but authorities suspected that the drugs to belonged to members of the Backa Town Gang. Later that same day, around 7:30 pm to be exact, members of the GSU led another operation, this time in Linda Vista Street, Belize City. There they searched another opened lot and discovered about 124 grams of Cannabis underneath a fence. Just like before, no one was in the vicinity when the search was conducted and the drugs were labeled as found property. However authorities suspected that the drugs belonged to the BLC gang that controls that area.
