Tonight marijuana is streaming out of northern Belize – and it's clear that some kind of Mexican connection is fuelling the link. We start with a dramatic drug bust this afternoon outside of Orange Walk near the Mameyal curve. Police were waiting for two vehicles with Belize license plates which came heading south, an Escalade and a Mercedes Sedan. Reports say the vehicles tried to elude police – but they were caught and impounded at the Orange Walk Police station where the cops hit the jackpot with a sizeable weed bust. The weed weighed 16 pounds and charges for drug trafficking will be brought tomorrow. The well-known Alrick Smith who was in the Mercedes was seen telling police that they have no reason to hold him because there was no weed in that vehicle.
