PUP Looking for A Rise Out Of Vega’s Resignation
posted (March 11, 2016)
And while that is the story on the UDP's side, what about the PUP? Today we asked pup leader John Briceno for his reaction.

Hon. John Briceno, Leader of the Opposition
"We were surprised that he has decided that he will not run again. I know that he was very upset and he has felt being disrespected. But that is an internal matter of the UDP which I can't get in or should not comment. But I just will tell you that with him out of the picture, certainly going to make it easier for us. But as it is we felt that the PUP has picked up some momentum and maybe he has decided that he has seen the writing on the wall that quite likely he will lose the next election. So he figured better that he announced from now that he is going to step down."

Emanuel Pech
"Do you think this paves the way for Monchie who came marginally close to unseating him?"

Hon. John Briceno, Leader of the Opposition
"It paves the way for the PUP and if it is Mr. Cervantes or whosever decide they want to run, whosoever the people of Orange Walk North, PUP supporters of the north decide that they want him, that is the person we are going to support. Obviously Mr. Cervantes put a lot of work. He manage to cut down the margin that Mr. Vega had and we need to recognize the tremendous work that he has done. But we believe now we have every confidence that we would win that division whenever the UDP calls the next national elections."
