Man Drowns In Front Of Daughter In Corozal
posted (March 21, 2016)
There was a drowning in Corozal yesterday afternoon. Reports are that around 3:00, 39 year old Customs Officer Valdemar Alpuche Jr. was Jet Skiing with his daughter and some friends in the South End Area. That's when a strong wave overturned the jet ski - hurling Alpuche and his daughter into the water. While his daughter, who is a minor stayed afloat with her life vest, Alpuche did not resurface. A friend, Lewelyn Kelly jumped in to try and save Alpuche but he couldn't - Kelly almost drowned trying to save him. Alpuche's body was found about an hour after the incident. Our colleagues at CTV-3 tried to speak with the family but they declined comment.
