Fatal Stabbing Was Murder Not Suicide or Self-Harm
posted (March 23, 2016)
Last week we told you about Oscar Gomez – who, had allegedly stabbed himself in the throat. But, it wasn't suicide – the police had their suspicions and would only call it a fatal stabbing. Well, tonight, it is now a murder investigation: 41 year old Oscar Gomez was allegedly murdered by his own friend. Today police told us they have ruled out suicide because the post mortem results show that Gomez had 8 stab wounds to his throat – and they say there is no way that Gomez could have done that to himself.

ACP Edward Broaster - O.C, Eastern Rural Division

"After the post-mortem was conducted, we learned Mr. Gomez had 8 stab wounds to the throat; 4 of which went 2 and a half inches deep and another one that went 3 and half inches in depth. And for that reason we're not investigating that matter as a murder and we have the prime suspect in custody who is the witness that originally reported to us that Mr. Gomez had committed suicide."

"When you spoke to the family they said that they couldn't even consider the possibility of Mr. Williams and his friends killing him because they were very close friends. Do you know at this point what might have happened?"

ACP Edward Broaster - O.C, Eastern Rural Division

"We don't know at this time, we don't want to go into speculation as to certain things that we're contemplating but nevertheless to share that it is being treated as a murder and we're investigating this matter thoroughly."

Police are questioning Gomez's friend. He was with Gomez at the time of the incident and was the one who reported it as a suicide. At this point police do not know what conflict might have led to Gomez's murder.
