Witness In Murder Speaks
posted (April 6, 2016)
Yesterday the mother of Rene Chavarria, also known as "Fat Cat," came out publicly to defend her son's name and to demand justice for his vicious murder. Today she took it a step further and introduced us to someone who claims to have seen the killers' faces as they set chase after him. The witness recounts the same story that we've already heard only this time, from his angle. His identity has been hidden and his voice has been distorted to ensure his safety. However he claims to be a close friend of the now deceased "Fat Cat." Here is his story.

Eye Witness

"I mi almost on the same car mi the wait for he, I mi di wait fi the man come back, I just gone buy a lee herb for the man same way. So I the man, I start roll up something on the lane and wait till the man come back and before the even come back I no even roll up the thing yet and they start shot up at the man, so everybody shake the lane."

Emanuel Pech

"You saw who it was?"

Eye Witness

"I know da who, one spell one of them mi the chase me too, so I know da who, no have to call no names but I know da who, I see they face."

Emanuel Pech

"I know you don't want to call named but where are the people from?"

Eye Witness

"Two ah them da no from ya, two ah they are from creek, Roaring Creek. One of they is right from bout ya, no have to call from da whe part bout ya."

Emanuel Pech

"Ladyville?"

Eye Witness

"Ya Ladyville. Da mi 3 of them and his distance from me because he mi deh pan bike about 12 and a half foot. Time the man pass me and tell me the *explicit* they miss me, go da yard the *explicit* they miss me. So I just done da yard and do what my lee bwai say and when I gone to yard I hear the gunshots and whats not way out da back on the back pavement and I say what my lee bwai get it mien; I done know because I done see when they jump pan the bike and chase ah. And the one whe mi inna the yard all of they see, some of them lay down on the ground and peep up and watch out but the gunman just pass they because they gunman da for them friend same way, so they plot against my dog."

But why exactly they wanted Fat Cat dead, the witness couldn't exactly say. He did emphasize that it was not drug related.

The witness told us that with his friend now gone, all he hopes is that police can catch up to the crooks that put him down. Now as we've already reported, early into the murder investigation Ladyville police detained one man. But police say that for a lack of evidence and unwilling-witnesses, the suspect was released. However the family and friends of the victim are of a different of opinion.

Eye Witness

"Nobody no even care, none of them even care. Police no even come back ya because of my cousin, man da my cousin and they no even come tell my cousin whe di go on. When they come, they gone by the lane deh so, Broaster come out and laugh, he feel good my lee bwai dead, so he jump back in he car and gone and they no tell this lady da how ih son dead or nothing. You know whe they do, my lee bwai pa deh out they and they wait until when Noble come whe da no even from round ya, he no even suppose to the deal with Ladyville division. He come and he tell my next cousin Mr. Chav, tell ah what yo son dead Mr. Chav none of they bwai no tell you that, they time he deh out deh from long the try find out whe di go on. But they no think fi tell ah, they look pan the man and laugh and say mi wa tell yo long time but ih just busy pan the crime scene, all of them know whe di go on, they done come and take a statement. They wa tell me bout I wa need fi do a ID parade, you know how long he say he wa come and he no even come back yet. They done let go the person, they catch ah about 2 time and let ah go now, they no wa charge nobody they happy mien, all of them happy."

Emily Gabourel - Mother of Fat Car

"I would like the commissioner get into this and I would also like Mr. John Saldivar dig down in this because this is not my first son, this is my second son and I think I have the right to get down in this and make sure I get justice. It's not fair, I remember my mom use to say mien this country is a lawless country. We could do something with this, if we do something with this we could show the other killers that they won't get away free like this. Mr. Broaster you know everything, you know who killed my son, you know, you cannot say you don't know. You can look at the evidence right in the newspaper that you write and you can't take that away because that is in black and white. Mr. Boaster you know, do your job, do your job, at least this one because all the other things that happen in Ladyville you haven't done anything. Maybe you will get a next medal, maybe I will give you a medal for this Mr. Broaster but Mr. Broaster, I know that you know."

Rene Chavarria was killed on the 18th of March, almost exactly a year after the murder of his older brother Jamie Chavarria.
