Mango Killing Was Not Murder
posted (April 20, 2016)

He was accused of killing a man for stealing mangoes from his tree, and 48 year old Hilberto Perez must stand trial for it.  That’s the outcome of a preliminary inquiry which was held today before Chief Magistrate Smith.  Perez will stand trial for manslaughter, not murder, in the June session of the Supreme Court for the shooting death of 60-year-old Alexander Trapp.

His old bail was confiscated and a new bail of $10,000 dollars was granted, which he met.

In May of 2015, Trapp, who had a substance abuse problem picked mangoes form Perez’s yard when he was shot, possibly with a recreation air rifle. The injury proved fatal and he died on a nearby feeder road.
