Alleged Double Murderer’s Trial Drawing To A Close
posted (April 28, 2016)
There was a shocking murder in Belize City on the last day of November of 2010. Businessman David Longsworth and Security Guard Edgar Ayala were killed in a very violent gas station armed robbery.

Well, after more than two months in the Supreme Court, the trial is winding down and the man accused of the double murder, 45 year old Ervin Alexander Reneau, will be cross examined tomorrow.

The case dragged on because prosecutors fought long and hard to get his caution statement ruled as admissible - and they succeeded. They also called 35 witnesses - including Egbert Miguel, a friend of Reneau - who says they went to the gas station to use the ATM, and he was shocked when he saw Reneau pull out a gun and shoot the security guard, Edgar Ayala. Other witnesses say that after he did that, he went over to David Longsworth's vehicle and shot him in front of his wife and children.

Reneau's girlfriend at the time, Suzette Marsden also testified and she said that he gave her a nine millimeter pistol on the day of the murder.

It is a trial without being heard by Justice Adolph Lucas.
