Canadians Help Mitigate Disasters

The Canadian High Commissioner to Belize Deborah Chatsis, was in country today to visit several Canadian projects. One of them was the Indigenous conference which we told you about yesterday. But while in the city today, she stopped by at the HelpAge Center on Wilson Street to present commemorative plaques to three disaster reduction projects which her government funded in 2013. It is a regional initiative that the Canadian Government heads in the Caribbean and the Belize projects received some $200 thousand Canadian dollars worth of funding.

The three organizations that received funding for disaster prevention projects were Helpage, NAVCO and SATIIM.
