Tonight the Mai and Miralda families are setting up and preparing the family home for a wake. Miriam “Bettyâ€￾ Mai and her sister in law and close friend Daisy Miralda were killed on Saturday evening inside Betty’s Beauty Salon. It was a regular Saturday for the girls, they were hanging out with a few friends in the Salon as Mai finished blow drying a customer’s hair. But the history of Mai’s violent relationship with her ex common law husband Andy Bustillos, crushed everything that day. Bustillos walked into the salon and shot and killed both Miralda and Mai. He also tried to shoot their other friends but the gun jammed and they were able to run away. That’s when Bustillos shot himself in the head. Yesterday the family told us that they didn’t know Bustillos was abusing Mai and that they wished Mai had said something so they could try to save her. But, the family now has to find a way to cope with this reality. Mai’s mother Maria Rodriguez told us yesterday that the hardest part now will be raising all the kids that Mai and Miralda left behind.

"I know she dead but inna my mind I feel that she the work and then no dead she living but whe I the think they pickni how I will do with them, they have a pa but they still need a ma because they small yet. And then I say how they pickni because me done got an age, I got 65 and then I wash I say but I can't wash lot, I get tired quick; anything that I do I get tired. Then I say how will I work with them pickni."

And the man responsible for causing these families so much agony and sorrow is 31 year old Andy Bustillos. As we told you, he shot himself in the head after killing Miralda and Mai, but he survived. He is in the hospital recovering and reports are that he is speaking and responding well. Rodriguez told us yesterday that she knew he had survived but that she won’t take justice into her own hands:

"Well I say that I left everything to god and I will see how I will manage with them pickni ya that's it because I go da church, we go to church lot. Well I know god will help me, I will come out, I will see how I will do with they pickni, they will eat what I eat and so but I left everything to god. Da god will deal with that I can't say nothing else."

When we spoke to police today, they told us that as soon as Bustillos fully recovers he will be charged. In terms of the suggestion that Bustillos’s boss at Anchor Security was indirectly responsible for the murder by leaving a crazed Bustillos with the company weapon, we called Anchor Security multiple times yesterday for a comment but could not get through.
